History
Lucknow was the capital of the Delhi Sultanate from the year 1350 onwards and later the Mughal Empire from 1555. The city was eventually handed to the Nawabs of Awadh in 1772. However, In 1856 the British East India Company took control and transferred it to the British Government in 1857. It was with the British till India attained Independence in 1947.

In an area of 631 Kms. the city has some fascinating places to visit. In the center of the town is Rumi Darwaza- a Mughal gateway. Nearby is the 18th century Bara Imambara Shrine with a huge arched hall and the Bhool Bhulaiya which is a maze of narrow tunnels with a view to the city from the upper floors. The Clock tower from Victorian time is nearby built as a victory column in 1881, The Memorial Museum built in 1857 in the British Residency, pay a visit to the City Zoo, shop in Hazratganj also visit The Jama Masjid (Great Mosque).

Ayodhya
This birthplace of Lord Rama. Famous for the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple along with Hanuman Garhi Mandir. Other must-visit places include the heritage Begum ka Maqbara and Gulab Bari’s collection of roses.
Dudhwa National Park
Wildlife park located near the Nepal border. One can spot rhinos, tigers, leopards, swamp deer along with 400 varieties of birds amidst dense forests and lakes.
Shravasti
An ancient city for Buddhism and Jainism. The remains of the old city are there to see. Sahet, a famous site for the Buddist monastery Jetvahana Vihar and stupas makes for a great visit. On the other hand, Mahet is famous for a stupa of Anathapindika and the cave and stupa of Angulimal, respectively.
Allahabad (Prayagraj)
Famous for the largest Hindu festival on the planet-The Maha Kumbh. Besides, it houses heritage buildings such as Allahabad Fort, Khusro Bagh, Allahabad Museum, and the Triveni Sangam.
Chambal Wildlife Centuary
Home to Gangetic Dolphins, Indian Skimmers, Red-crowned turtles, and Gharials, located near Lucknow. Boat ride onn the Chambal River and enjoy the wildlife.
Chitrakoot
A small town situated in the Vidhayan range. It is also called ”Hill of many wonders”. The mountain ranges have religious significance with temples to visit.

Lucknow International Airport is 15 Km from the city center and connects with major Indian airports. Major Indian Carriers connect Lucknow from Delhi; Mumbai; Patna, Bangalore and Hyderabad. International flights operate from Abu Dhabi; Muscat; Riyadh; jeddah; Doha and Dubai.
By Train
Road travel to and fro from Lucknow is comfortable and well connected to Delhi (550 Kms); Agra (366 Kms); Varanasi (320 Kms) and Kanpur (90 Kms) to name a few destinations.
By Surface
Lucknow railway Station (Charbagh Station) is situated in the heart of the city and connects extensively with the rest of the country. Regular trains ply between Lucknow and Delhi; Kolkata; Patna; Chennai and many stations spread around the country.
