Bangalore

History

It is said that Bangalore exited much earlier in the times, the existence dates back to c 890. But Bangalore as a city was founded by Kempe Gowda I, who built a mud fort at the site in 1537. He named it Bangalore. Earlier, it was called Bengaval-uru which means the city of guards. In the 12th century, according to legends, it became Benda-kaalu-ooru which means the town of boiled beans. Currently, the official name of the city is Bengaluru.

Visit the Bangalore Palace

If you are in Bengaluru, the first and foremost thing to do is visiting the Bangalore Palace. The palace is spread over an area of 45,000 acres and is magnificent. Relax at the Ulsoor Lake

Ulsoor lake is the biggest lake in Bengaluru spread over an area of 50 ha. The lake is the best place to relax in the city, it has a peaceful atmosphere and very beautiful sights. It has several islands that make the lake look even more gorgeous and give the visitor plenty of space to relax in peace. For those looking for some activities, the lake has boating facilities or you can go walking or running on the track around the lake.

Spend time at Cubbon Park

Cubbon Park is situated in the Central Administrative Area of Bangalore city. The official name of the park is Sri Chamarajendra Park and it is popularly called as the ‘lung’ the Bengaluru city. Spread over an area of 300 acres, the park is full of greenery. It is an ideal place to visit for everyone, there are a variety of flowering and ornamental trees, an aquarium and a play area for kids. You can spend some peaceful time at the park and enjoy the calming atmosphere.

Visit Lalbagh

Lalbagh Botanical garden is a popular tourist spot in Bengaluru. The garden was established during the rule of Hyder Ali and later reconditioned by his son Tippu. The garden is filled with a huge variety of plants from across the World. The garden has a glasshouse built along the lines of London’s Crystal Palace. Lalbagh prominently presents history also, there is a statue of Sri Chamarajendra Wadiyar, who was the ruler of Mysore. If you are visiting Lalbagh, make sure to take out some time to understand the plants’ varieties and their species.
