History

Mahabaleshwar was ruled by a Brahmin dynasty in 1350. In the middle of the 16th century, the Maratha family defeated the Brahmin dynasty and gained control over Javli and Mahabaleshwar. Later, in 1819, the British gained rule over the place. The colonial influence is still reflected in the architecture of the city.
