History
Bombay is a city that was governed by a lot of rulers during the course of time, in the 3rd century, it was a part of Ashoka’s empire. By 6th-8th century, the city was ruled by the Chalukyas, who left their mark on Elephanta Island. Later in the times, by 1662, the city was given to the British. Mumbai’s history is as interesting as its streets. The British had a great influence on the city, the Gothic style of architecture in Mumbai can be attributed to the early British rule. You would observe the Portuguese influence on the architecture and the food of the city too.
