Ooty
Udagamandalam, popularly known as Ooty is a hill station in Tamil Nadu which is loved by the people of the nation and the entire World. History
The history of Ooty goes back to the British era. The town was first discovered by the collector of Coimbatore in 1817 during the British rule. The town was then under the control of the tribe ‘Toda’ and was known as Udagamandalam. The name means ‘A village of a single stone’ and it was derived from the regional name ottakkalmandu. It became a popular summer resort during the British rule and the British visited the place to spend some leisure time.
