The official language is Arabic .Petroleum was discovered in 1938. The country has since become the world’s second largest oil producer (behind the US) and the world’s largest oil exporter.
The country is the second largest tourist destination in the Middle East. The potential tourist places include The Hijaz and Sarawat Mountains, Red Sea diving and a number of ancient ruins. Although tours are largely for religious pilgrimages,however, there has been a growth in the leisure tourism sector. The seasons are organized throughout the year into 11 seasons named after the City or Festival.
